Under the authority granted to Cameron County pursuant to Texas Natural Resources Code Section 61.132 which permits the Texas General Land Office ("GLO") and the County to enter into a memorandum of agreement under the terms of which Boca Chica Beach may be closed temporarily for space launches and in conformity with the Memorandum of Agreement, contract number 2013C08253/GLO contract number 13-447-000-7916 between the County and the GLO that delineates the circumstances under which the County is authorized to close the beach and beach access points for the limited purpose of protecting Public Health and Safety during spaceflight activities and the Texas Department of Transportation authorized a Space X Roadway Closure Traffic Control Plan to perform road closures on State Highway 4;

16 Apr: Cameron County Confirms Fourth COVID-19 Related Death
Cameron County has received confirmation of its fourth COVID-19 related death of a Cameron County resident. The resident was an 82-year old female from the Veranda Nursing Home in Harlingen and passed away at the facility. The individual had been previously reported as a case for Cameron County.

16 Apr: Outdoor Exercising
On April 7, 2020 Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr., issued the Supplemental Emergency Management Order and Recommendations Concerning Additional Travel Restrictions and Face Coverings due to the increasing concerns of a COVID-19 spike and outbreak. in the U.S. In conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), it was recommended to utilize a face mask/ covering when out in public and that all travel deemed essential or necessary be limited to no more than two (2) individuals per vehicle, and when possible, be voluntarily limited to one ( l) person per vehicle due to the CDC recommendation of social distancing not being possible in most vehicles.

21 Jul: Press Release Video Conference with Governor Abbott
Today, Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr., had a video conference meeting with Governor Greg Abbott and an in-person meeting with Governor Abbott's Chief of Staff, Luis Saenz, Chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Nim Kidd, local and state leaders, along with Cameron County Hospital Administrators to discuss local needs and current COVID-19 status in Cameron County.

20 Jul: Cameron County Confirms Additional COVID-19 Related Deaths
Cameron County has received confirmation of fifteen additional COVID-19 related deaths of Cameron County Residents. The individuals were a 59-year old, 71-year old, and 90-year old females from San Benito, 60-year old female from Harlingen, 81-year old female from Combes, 81-year old female from Harlingen, and 86-year old female from La Feria. In addition, there was a 41-year old, 55-year old, 63-year old, 67-year old, 78-year old, and 83-year old males from Harlingen, a 68-year old male from Primera, and 81-year old male from San Benito. These individuals all passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. This raises the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Cameron County to 111. Cameron County has also received confirmation of an additional 322 laboratory reports of COVID-19. This includes the following:
