WHEREAS, in conjunction with the National Emergency Declaration issued by President Trump and Governor Abbott's Declaration of Disaster on March 13, 2020, and out of an abundance of caution to limit or reduce the spread of COVID-19 to Cameron County;
Effective today March 23, 2020, Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr. has ordered and mandated a county-wide shelter in place to protect the significant threats of COVID-19 to life, health and property of residents in Cameron County. The third supplemental emergency management order is established on behalf of all of Cameron County and in accordance and conjunction with the National Emergency Declaration issued by President Trump and Governor Abbott's Declaration of Disaster of March 13, 2020 and subsequent orders.
Cameron County Public Health has received confirmation of four additional travel-related cases of COVID-19. The cases include a 57 year-old female from Harlingen, a 20 year-old male from Brownsville, a 21 year-old male from Rancho Viejo, and a 20 year-old female from Brownsville. All cases report having traveled out of the United States. The individuals are currently under home isolation. The 57-year old female is not linked to either of the first two travel-related cases reported in Cameron County, while it appears the other three cases are related to the first travel-related case reported in Cameron County.
