Cameron County Public Health has received confirmation of the second travel-related case of COVID-19. An 81-year old male from Harlingen tested positive after traveling to Florida. On March 19, the patient was tested due to symptoms of cough, congestion, and fever. Cameron County Public Health received laboratory confirmation March 20. The individual is currently under home isolation. This individual is not linked to the first travel-related case.
In conjunction with the National Emergency Declaration issued by President Trump and Governor Abbott's Declaration of Disaster of March 13, 2020, and out of an abundance of caution to limit or reduce the spread of COVID-19 to Cameron County, I hereby issue the following Second Supplemental Emergency Management Order & Recommendation in my capacity as Cameron County Judge with the advice and consent of Commissioners Court:
Effective today March 20, 2020, Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr. has ordered and recommended requirements for occupancy of premises and travel restrictions/ movement of people. The second supplemental emergency management order is established on behalf of all of Cameron County and in accordance and conjunction with the National Emergency Declaration issued by President Trump and Governor Abbott's Declaration of Disaster of March 13, 2020 and subsequent orders.
