Cadets will receive individual and group therapy, in addition to substance use treatment, in order to improve emotional regulation, behavioral response, coping with stress, and to work towards healthy relationships. Cadets also attend school throughout the day, which require the juvenile to be classified as 8th grade or above, and will be supported by San Benito CISD, which also includes a GED component for those eligible. Ladies Inspired For Excellence (LIFE) Program

The LIFE Residential Program is a secure facility which utilizes a strength based approach when servicing youth and is designed to service female juveniles ages 14 thru 17 who have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder and/or have experienced traumatic events in the past.

The program will provide the residents with a therapeutic environment where they will receive Trauma Informed Care and will be allowed to work on their personal struggles. Trauma-Focused Therapy is a specific approach to therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how the traumatic experience impacts a child’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. The purpose of trauma-focused therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist our residents in better understanding, coping with,  processing emotions and memories tied to traumatic experiences, with the end goal of enabling them to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of the experience that took place in his/her life. Each juvenile will be assigned a Licensed Professional Counselor and will participate in individual, group and family counseling to include drug rehabilitation therapy by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor.  All residents will also have access to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which is an evidence based model which will provide the juvenile and family the skills to cope with relationships, community safety, life skills and overall emotional and physical well-being.

During their stay, our goal is to teach the residents to value themselves, their families, others, and their community.
